Batman Begins Vs The Dark Knight : Which one is better
71
The two Batman movies have been the subject of discussion for their level of sophistication and one isn’t surprised if they have raised the bar when it comes to movie making. Since watching one without the other would merely leaves gaps in understanding the ‘new and improved’ Batman from the disastrous 'Batman Forever', I thought it would be best to draw a comparison between the two movies as the latter is merely based on the “foundation” set in the first part of these very first realism-driven Batman movies… yes, very much like building blocks.
When ‘The Dark Knight’ was released last year (2008) with the
continued efforts of the cast from the first movie (with the exception
of Katie Holmes in this one), it was fitting to remember Heath
Ledger’s contribution as ‘The Joker’ in the second movie. And my, what
a performance it was!
Christian Bale, however, in my mind is the best Batman ever after which Val Kilmer comes next… and Cillian Murphy (as the Scarecrow) was like Wow!
But of these two movies, I enjoyed ‘Batman Begins’ much more for the very reason that it took a different direction from the Batman movies of yore, and it was a daring thing to do.
Even though ‘The Dark Knight’ was regarded to have pushed the envelope, to me it was justifiably a continuation of that intensity, momentum and the ‘dark vibes’ that were created in the first movie not forgetting the gadgets and the action sequences too!
Yet a lot of audiences think that this was the ultimate Batman movie and perhaps it might have been. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there will be another Batman movie according to reports of the director's denial in a follow-up movie.
Personally speaking, I would have loved to see Scarecrow and Harvey Two-Face together and perhaps, the Riddler too... in the next one!
But you never get what you wish for when you want... so I guess we'll see if there is another Batman movie for sometime to come.
Perhaps ten years from... perhaps five... who knows?
But what will be worth watching is if the next movies can beat these two movies that have really shown us cinema at its very best!
Why so ssserious?

They both were great. I don't know how they are going to be able to make any more after these two.
